History
In 1970, the Ministry of Petroleum established the Center of Applied Geology. The Center was
attached to King Abdulaziz University in 1975 and named the Institute of Applied Geology. In 1978, it merged
with the
department of Geology of the Faculty of Sciences to establish the Faculty of Earth Sciences. At that time the
first
established department was the Mineral Resources and Rocks.
The department offers the following degrees:

Bachelor degree in Mineral Resources and Rocks

Master degree (with courses and thesis) in Mineral Resources and Rocks

Master degree (with courses and thesis) in Mineral Exploration

Master degree (with courses and research project) in Economic Geology

PhD degree in Mineral Resources and Rocks
